Luke Crimiel is a singer/songwriter who has deep roots within music. With him pretty much being born into it, he began playing the drums at age 4 at his godfather’s church. It was at this time he began to come into his love for music. He was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, and was raised in a small town called Thibodaux, not far from New Orleans.
Crimiel’s mother being a singer and father being a collegiate athlete, he was inspired to be involved in a lot as a child. From playing football, to leading a drum line throughout middle school and high school, all while leading a church worship team – he began realizing music was his calling.
Soon after graduating high school and leaving the church, 18-year old Crimiel left Thibodaux and moved to Los Angeles, California. From then on, the multi instrumentalist began to write songs and soon began to put together a band of musicians to perform with.
From influences like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Frank Sinatra, he developed a pop/soul sound that shows the influence of 70s and 80s classic soul and pop. With his lyrics showing the softer, passionate and melodic side of those eras, it shows a clear influence in his vocals and melodic style.
To quote Crimiel, “My family always had music on. It was a lifestyle. Happy times, we play music. Sad times, we play music. I think it would have been impossible for me not to have been influenced by my musical family.”
